Roofing questions, answered
Straight answers on roof costs, repair vs. replacement, tile, materials and financing from Ocelot Roofing in Hesperia, CA. Updated October 2026.
How much does a new roof cost in Hesperia and the High Desert?
The cost of a new roof in Hesperia depends mostly on roof size, pitch, the material you choose and how many layers have to be torn off. Architectural shingles usually cost more than 3-tab, and tile costs more than shingles. Ocelot Roofing gives free, itemized estimates so you can compare options side by side.
Are Ocelot Roofing estimates free?
Yes. Ocelot Roofing inspects your roof and gives you a written estimate at no cost and with no obligation. Call (866) 837-3311 or request an estimate online.
What affects the price of a roof repair?
A roof repair is priced by what's actually damaged and how hard it is to reach: a few replaced shingles or a pipe boot is a small job, while tracing a leak under tile or replacing flashing around a chimney takes longer. We inspect first, then quote the fix.
Do you offer roof financing?
Yes. Ocelot Roofing offers flexible roof financing with low monthly payments for qualified homeowners, including 100% financing options. Financing is subject to credit approval. Ask about it during your estimate or call (866) 837-3311.
Should I repair or replace my roof?
Repair makes sense when damage is limited and the rest of the roof is sound. Replacement makes more sense when a shingle roof is near the end of its life, leaks keep coming back in different places, or damage is spread across the roof. Ocelot Roofing will tell you honestly which one you need.
How long does an asphalt shingle roof last in the High Desert?
As a general guide, asphalt shingle roofs last roughly 20 to 30 years, with architectural shingles typically outlasting 3-tab. Strong High Desert sun, heat swings and wind can shorten that, so an inspection is the best way to know where your roof stands.
What are signs I need a new roof?
Common signs include curling, cracked or missing shingles, lots of granules in the gutters, sagging areas, daylight in the attic, and repeated leaks. If you're seeing more than one of these, it's time for an inspection.
Can you put a new roof over my old one?
Some codes allow a second layer of shingles, but a full tear-off is usually the better choice because it lets us inspect and repair the roof deck and install new underlayment and flashing correctly. We'll explain the options for your home.
Why is my tile roof leaking if the tiles look fine?
Tile roofs usually leak because the underlayment beneath the tile has worn out, not because of the tile itself. Tile sheds most water, but the underlayment is the real waterproof layer. Ocelot Roofing traces tile leaks to their source and repairs the underlayment.
What is a tile roof lift and relay?
A lift and relay is when we carefully remove the existing tile, replace the old underlayment and battens, then reinstall the same tile, replacing any broken pieces. It gives you a new waterproof layer while keeping the look of your tile.
Can you match my existing roof tiles?
In most cases we can match common concrete and clay tile profiles and colors closely. Older or discontinued tiles can be harder, and we'll tell you up front if an exact match isn't available.
What's the difference between composition and architectural shingles?
Composition (3-tab) shingles are a single flat layer with a uniform look and the lowest price. Architectural shingles are thicker and layered, which gives a dimensional look and typically longer warranty options. Most homeowners choosing shingles today go architectural.
Which roofing material is best for the High Desert heat?
Tile and light-colored or cool-rated shingles both handle high heat well. Tile is heavier and more expensive but very long-lasting; cool-rated shingles reflect more sunlight than standard dark shingles. The right choice depends on your home's structure, style and budget.
Do you install flat roofs?
Yes. Ocelot Roofing installs and repairs flat and low-slope roofs on homes, additions and patio covers, using materials made for low pitch and paying close attention to drainage.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family roof replacements take a few days once work starts, depending on size, material and weather. Tile and larger homes take longer. We'll give you a schedule with your estimate.
Do I need to be home during the roof work?
Not necessarily. We'll agree on access and scheduling with your estimate, and the owner oversees each project and keeps you updated as work moves along.
Who oversees my roofing project?
Manny Torres, the owner of Ocelot Roofing, personally oversees every project from start to finish, so there's one accountable person from your estimate to the finished roof.
